timetable for Higher Education programs will be finalised when

| Outline |
The Bachelor of Nursing program is designed to equip graduates
with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in nursing.
It's not just what you learn, but how you learn. That's why you
will engage in an exciting range of teaching techniques. As well as
the theory, you get the very best in practical and experiential
learning through clinical placements and simulated healthcare
environments at our on-campus laboratories, including the new
Simulated Home Environment Learning Space (SHELS), which replicates
a typical Older Person's home. Add flexible study options,
podcasts, blogs and online discussion groups and you have all the
tools you need to learn to succeed.
As a graduate of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation
Council (ANMAC) accredited program, you will meet all educational
requirements needed to be eligible to apply for registration as a
Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation
Agency (AHPRA). |
| Career Opportunities |
The education and experiences offered will provide qualification
to allow you to work in:
- Hospitals;
- Community health care centres;
- District nursing;
- Aged care facilities;
- Schools, homes;
- Government agencies;
- Industries; and
- Educational institutions.
The qualification is recognised overseas and following completion,
would allow you to work overseas, subject to registration
requirements |
| Requirements |
Throughout the three years of your program you will complete 22
compulsory courses including 5 professional practice courses.
These courses are a combination of traditional learning approaches
(i.e. lectures, tutorials laboratories and simulated learning
experiences) and other web based technologies.
The Bachelor of Nursing is delivered over 6 x 12-week semesters.
The program contains both on and off campus components. The
on-campus component is delivered at the Mt Helen and Horsham
campuses. The off-campus component, which accounts for
approximately 50% of program hours, is in the form of clinical
education. This component is conducted in a wide variety of local
and regional health care facilities. To facilitate clinical
placements, they are arranged at times other than during the 12
weeks of semester and there is a requirement of students to travel
throughout Victoria and interstate to undertake clinical education
as part of this program. |
